The Blue Line Grows Thinner

Written in response to the death of a police officer

As the flowers pile high in the street
The very same ones as you worked your beat
We remember the look of a familiar face
Striving to keep our citizens safe.

You did your duty, that much is true
To the bitter end you paid your dues
Serving the queen and the country she reigns
Nothing you did was ever in vain.

You’ll always be there, we’ll never forget
For you are owed an unpayable debt
Against crime you participated in an ongoing fight
State 11 received, thank you goodnight.
